During Jenny’s CCIP J-1 internship at Grace Lee's office, she experienced significant professional and personal growth. The program adeptly combined professional development with cultural immersion, seamlessly integrating her into American life. Jenny’s involvement in community service projects deepened her understanding of local cultures, while exploring the city allowed her to connect with new people and discover various attractions. This blend of experiences significantly broadened her skills and cultural awareness.
Jenny found the working environment to be exceptionally supportive, with kind and collaborative colleagues and a nurturing supervisor. The positive atmosphere greatly contributed to her personal and professional development. She appreciated the constructive guidance and teamwork, which facilitated her growth throughout the internship.
One standout experience was a meaningful conversation she had during tabling activities, which highlighted the challenges faced by small business owners in the community. This interaction not only broadened her perspective but also inspired her to consider a career in economic development or public policy. Jenny recommends future participants engage actively in front-line activities like tabling, as they offer invaluable opportunities to connect with diverse groups and gain firsthand insights into community concerns.
